Lexington, KY

Anekdota Studio is a photography studio in Lexington, KY owned by Kathleen Burke and Katherine Hoskins. We specialize in weddings, portraits, and events.

Documenting life's big events by capturing the small moments that matter most

Anekdota Studio combines photo journalism with traditional event photography. This unique pairing allows us to capture the individual moments of your special day while creating a collection of photos that tell the story of your wedding or event.

This style of photography is represented not just in the work you see on this site, but also in the origin of our name. Anekdota is the Greek Root of the word anecdote. We capture photographs that tell the interesting, real-life moments that make your story unique... essentially creating visual anecdotes.

Kathleen Burke is the main photographer behind Anekdota Studio. She works together with a team of incredible assistant photographers to ensure that you receive the highest quality of service.

Kathleen Burke

I was born in Okinawa, Japan on a military base and spent my childhood moving from place to place. While, Lexington, KY is the place I've called home since venturing out as an adult on my own, I'm excited to be transitioning to the Cleveland area this Summer. It's a new adventure with so many exciting photography locations and opportunities.

During high school I took some photography classes and fell in love. In college I decided to major in art and quickly became distracted by all the new-to-me mediums I could work with: painting, video, printmaking; sculpture. After I graduated in 2010, I found myself returning to the first medium that got me interested in making art—photography.

In 2011, I started working with Angela Anderson as a Photographer's Assistant and photo editor. Angela Anderson and her (at that time) cohort, Amy Campbell, taught me a lot about how to photograph events and people. Since then I've photographed many weddings, events, and parties.

I thrive on capturing the individual moments that make each event unique. It is such a privilege to photograph people and their special moments.
