This is such a difficult post to write. But now that the year is coming to an end, and this new stage in my life finally feels real, it’s time to admit to myself that I need to officially say goodbye to Anekdota Studio.
During the past two years, I’ve had the wonderful, transformative experience of creating a business with my best friend. While I’ve delighted in every step along the way, I came to realize that, even though I can’t imagine loving any place more than Kentucky, it was time to move on from the state I’ve lived in for 25 years. So, a few months ago I took the biggest leap of my life and moved to New York City where I am pursuing a master’s degree in Media Studies at The New School, and continuing to work on photography and video projects.
I could never have imagined how amazing it feels to capture a wedding day on camera. I adored every joyful, emotional moment I spent with our clients’ families and friends, celebrating such extraordinary love and commitment. I want to personally thank each and every one of our clients for inviting Kathleen and I to be a part of such a special time in your lives. We’ve had the immense pleasure of working with the kindest, loveliest people and I am so grateful for those opportunities. Thank you for making it so easy for me to love my job for the past two years.
There is nothing like being part of a creative team with someone who shares your sensibilities, challenges you to grow, and stays positive when things get stressful. I could not have asked for a more professional, supportive friend and business partner than Kathleen Burke, and I can’t wait to follow along as she continues to foster Anekdota Studio. It’s with a heavy heart that I move on from this endeavor, but I’m overjoyed to be leaving the reigns in such talented, capable hands.
Happy New Year!
