Emily & Dan - Engagement Session at Deer Lick Cave

Anekdota Studio

Emily and Dan met me for their engagement session at Deer Lick Cave in Brecksville earlier this fall. It was such a beautiful morning to spend in the woods.

Dan first met Emily in High School when one of his friends started dating her friend in High School. However, instead of asking her out right away he played it cool and waited until the Homecoming Dance. He asked her dance and later that night they exchanged phone numbers. They've been together ever since.

Emily and Dan have a favorite towpath they like to walk. On this path there's a particular spot they usually stop to sit and look at the water. One day, they were looking through the rocks near their spot. Suddenly, Dan bent down proclaiming that he had found a geode. When Emily turned around to look, he was down on one knee with a ring box he had made from a geode. Of course, she said yes!

I can't wait for Emily and Dan's wedding next year!

Stafford & Austin - Cleveland Engagement Session

Anekdota Studio

I've known Stafford for years. Our friendship was solidified over Banagrams at local breweries in Lexington, KY. It's kismet that we've both now landed in Cleveland and it was so amazing that my first official photo session was her and Austin's engagement session.

Stafford has a big personality. She is the kind of person who owns a room when she walks into it and makes everything around her seem brighter and more exciting. I remember when she first told me about Austin, shortly after they had started dating. She got quiet, which was unusual and an indicator that Austin was a serious match. Even though she was a bit shy to talk about him her eyes were fully lit up and she couldn't stop smiling. After I met Austin for the first time, I could see why. They are great together. He is steadfast and charming which compliments Stafford's outgoing and adventurous personality.

Congratulations Stafford and Austin! You two are going to make an amazing married team. I can't wait for game nights in this new city we're both calling home.

Lauren & Zach - Sharon Woods Engagement Session

Anekdota Studio

I met Lauren and Zach at Sharon Woods right outside Cincinnati, OH for their engagement session. It was a beautiful day and the light was perfect. I mean seriously, look at these dreamy color tones.

Lauren and Zach dated long distance while she attended college in Pittsburgh and then lived in New York City for a bit. They were able to make it work and have so many adventure stories about their visits to see one another. When Lauren was living in NYC they made a point of sussing out the best BBQ joints. Listening to their food adventures was a lot of fun, these two would be a lot of fun to travel with.

When Zach picked up the engagement ring for Lauren, he was so excited he couldn't wait to propose. Within 20 minutes of picking it up he asked her to marry him while they were walking through their neighborhood park under some of Lauren's favorite trees.

I'm super excited to photograph their wedding at Canyon Run Ranch later this year! Congrats Lauren & Zach!

Ginna & Andrew - Lexington Engagement Session

Anekdota Studio

I met with Ginna & Andrew at the UK Arboretum for the start of their engagement session and we finished it at Keeneland, truly two of my favorite spots in Lexington. We couldn't have asked for better weather or light.

While Ginna was studying abroad in Europe, she learned about a German engagement tradition, in which the men carve scenes in a maypole representing their relationship with the woman they are asking to marry. This tradition really struck home for her, and she told Andrew about it. She didn't think he would actually go ahead and carve her a maypole, but he did, presenting it to her along with a ring. Of course, she said yes.

Ginna & Andrew were so much fun to photograph. It's clear that they truly love and care for each other. Congrats, Ginna & Andrew!

Stephanie & Dan - Engagement Session at the Arboretum

Anekdota Studio

I met Stephanie and Dan at the Arboretum for their engagement session on a surprisingly pleasant day after a week of rain. The Arboretum is not only one of my favorite photography locations it's also one of my favorite places just to go for a walk.

Stephanie and Dan love to travel together.  Two years ago while walking on the beach in Puerto Rico, Dan said to Stephanie, "I could travel with you forever. Would you be ok with that?" She immediately replied, "Yes, absolutely! Fun!" to which he responded by getting down on one knee and asking her to marry him. Of course, she said yes to that question too.

I had so much fun photographing Stephanie and Dan's engagement session, in large part because they were so much fun to be around. I can't wait until their wedding in May! Congrats Stephanie and Dan!
